Haiti is still fresh in many of our hearts and minds, and the human suffering on that small island is still great. It is my hope that you'll be proud to know that our little, local store, FITniche, made a cash donation of $1,500.00 the day after the quake. Even though we're diligently saving cash for our second store in North Tampa, it was impossible for us to ignore the immediate need in Haiti.
We know also that many of you have already given in some way or ways to the relief efforts there, but we have one last way you and FITniche together can help, and I think you'll find it pretty neat.
On Valentine's Day FITniche (and you, hopefully) will participate in the Heart and Sole for Haiti Project (see bottom of newsletter) with 2 cool ways to make a difference.
1) That Sunday morning, you can meet us at Lake Hollingsworth at 7:00 AM for an easy, Fun-Run with the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project team members. This is the premier US Olympic Development team for distance running in the United States right now--and they're currently training here in Polk County to escape the Michigan cold! For a voluntary $5 cash donation, you can run with the fastest men and women in the country (at a pace that will be painfully slow for them) and enjoy an informal meet and greet catered by either Panera or Starbucks afterwards!
2) Then return to FITniche later that afternoon, where all regular priced shoes purchased will also result in a $10 donation to the Heart and Sole for Haiti project from FITniche. Match our donation with $10 of your own and we'll also take $5 off your purchase.
So come out and have some fun with us this Valentines Day and do something good for your heart and the Heart and Sole for Haiti project!

Fees--$25.00 adult, $12 students (18 & under)
Registration Closing Date--Wed, February 03, 2010 @ 9:00 PM (race day registrants not guaranteed shirts).
Brief Description--Fifth Annual Rotary 5K Run to benefit Common Ground Park, a park where all children, handicapped or not, can play together. Experienced race director, chip timed, assisted by Lakeland Runners Club, Inc. We expect over 600 runners!
